Student Advisory Council

The OCE Student Advisory Council serves as leaders and ambassadors for the Office for Community Engagement within the campus and Fort Worth community.

Council members will meet weekly and will advise the OCE staff on issues related to the office’s mission, as well as assist with various OCE programs and initiatives. Based on individual interests, Advisory Council members will have the opportunity to take on leadership roles within the Office for Community Engagement, as well as have the opportunity to represent the office and TCU at various community events.

Student Advisory Council Leadership Postions:

Co-Chair: Organize and lead weekly council meetings. Meet weekly with the Council Advisor and stays connected to OCE and student members. Communicate with campus stakeholders and assist with budget tracking of service organization grant request.

Director of Training and Development: Develop and organize training opportunities/retreats for students interested in participating in service. Develop professional development opportunities for students focused around service, advocacy and activism.

Director of Communications:  Manage OCE social media and develop social media campaigns to increase followership and engagement. Assist with OCE website upkeep. Provided publicity for all council events, publish OCE newsletter and other promotional materials.

Director of Events: Oversee the coordinate of events and logistics for Advisory Council events, especially Thursdays at TCU and Service Saturdays, and reserve venues for all events. Collaborate with Director of Communications on advertising events.

Director of Community Partnerships: Outreach to community partners to assess needs and interests in partnering with TCU. Serve as liaison for community partners for Thursdays at TCU and Service Saturdays. Identify areas of collaboration and partnership between OCE and the community.

Academic Liaison: Serve as an ambassador between OCE and academic departments/majors. Share information about upcoming events and opportunities with academic partners. Work with Director of Communications to assist with publicity efforts targeting various schools/colleges.

Student Organization Liaison: Serve as an ambassador between OCE and student organizations who may have an interest in service. Share information about upcoming events adn opportunities with student orgs. Work with Director of Communications to assist with publicity efforts targeting various student organizations. Report back to Council any opportunities to collaborate with student needs/wants.

Fraternity and Sorority Life Liaison: Serve as an ambassador between OCE and Fraternities/Sororities who may have an interest in service. Share information about upcoming events and opportunities with FSL. Work with Director of Communications to assist with publicity efforts targeting FSL. Report back to Council any opportunities to collaborate or student needs/wants.

Residence Life Liaison: Serve as an ambassador between OCE and Residence Life. Share information about upcoming events and opportunities with Residence life. Work with Director of Communications to assist with publicity efforts targeting residence halls. Report back to Council any opportunities to collaborate or student needs/wants.

Application Process:
Interested students must complete an application and interview process. Applications must be submitted online by Friday, September 15 at 5pm. Interviews will take place the week of September 18, and students will be notified of their acceptance by Thursday, September 21.
